This Saturday from 4pm to Midnight, come by the brewery for a FREE concert, Historic Downtown Music Festival “1,000 Years of Music”. Featured acts include ALL STAR JAM, The Lefty Collins Band, Smokin’, Marc Phillips & Groove Daddy, and Ballyhoo. Bring your lawn chairs (but NO coolers). Tap room will be open, and food and drink vendors will be on site!!!

We saw The Pollies play at Southsounds and Southern Makers this year and got to hang out with the band. Super cool dudes, and we can’t stop spinning their 2012 release, Where the Lies Begin. Word from the band is they’re entering the studio this August to record some new tracks. Can’t wait!

Dave gets lost in the aisles at Whole Foods, and when we find him he’s a liquid foundation wearing, coconut water swilling vegan. Watch for a 5-course beer dinner prepared by Chef Trent Bissell, including a vinaigrette recipe made with Truck Stop Honey.

Spring Vegetable Salad with a Truck Stop Honey Vinaigrette

Vinaigrette:

3 oz. Truck Stop Honey Beer
1 oz. Alabama Honey
1 oz. apple cider vinegar
Cracked black peppercorn to taste
Salt to taste

Salad:

1 handful of Mache or light greens

A selection of available local veggies of your choice, we are using; carrots, watermelon radish, black plums, avocado and tomato.

Toss your greens in the vinaigrette and top with the rest of the veggies and enjoy with a Back Forty Truck Stop Honey Brown Ale.

We love our Alabama musicians, and Florence native (via Tennessee) John Paul White is one of our favorites. We met up with JPW on Record Store Day 2013 at Pegasus Records in Florence, had him sign some beer, and talked with him a bit about what’s on the horizon. Look out for an announcement from JPW and his Grammy Award-winning duo the Civil Wars (with Joy Williams) on May 1, 2013 via the Civil Wars’ Facebook page. In the meantime, check out JPW’s 2008 release, The Long Goodbye.
